Christian Education

Disciple Bible Study is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. It focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer and servant while providing the fellowship of a small group for study, prayer, preparation, support and servanthood. Disciple assumes that the Bible is key to renewal in the church and affirms that the canon was formed as it is in order for God to speak to us. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God and draws upon the work of scholars to aid understanding of the Bible. Through Disciple, persons will be strengthened in their faith and guided into service and ministry. The Disciple Bible Study program can deepen faith, vitalize worship, activate leadership, encourage stewardship, create fellowship and transform lives.

The Bethel Series has a unique overview approach of the Old and New Testaments that immerses the student in the Bible. It provides the tools to help establish a Biblical knowledge base; and in the process of the study, the student lifts from the pages of Scripture the wonderful story of how God has moved through history to bring about his plan of salvation. When students complete the Bethel Series, they will be equipped and knowledgeable in the use of the Scriptures.

Gemeinschaft is a spiritual formation program designed to nurture and challenge the interior and exterior Christian journey of Moravians as individuals and in a small group. It offers the opportunity to focus awareness on God's saving grace and power in our lives in a deliberate, intentional and committed manner in a community of believers. Gemeinschaft's purpose is to provide a structure that encourages accountability, daily disciplines, community, new habits, commitment and confidentiality.

Sunday School

Clemmons Moravian Church offers a Sunday school program from 9:30-10:15 am every Sunday morning.  All classes are open to new members and visitors.  Our hope is that each and every person who joins us during the Sunday School hour can find an opportunity to suit his or her unique spiritual needs.

Primary School Classes   For infants and grades K-5th.  All classes, except the infants, meet in the fellowship hall for a weekly assembly program before heading to their individual classrooms for an age appropriate Bible lesson.  All children and youth classes are currently using the "Gather 'Round" curriculum.

During the season of Lent, all children's classes will participate in a weekly Lenten devotional project during the Sunday School assembly time.  We are learning about some different Christian virtues, and how we can live them in our own lives.

Middle School Class   For all youth in 6th-8th grades.  Meets upstairs in the church office building.

High School Class   For all youth in 9th-12th grades.  Meets in the youth hut, which is the blue building to the left of the pavilion.

We have five adult Sunday School classes.  They vary in age, study format, and curriculum.  Most of the classes engage in social activities outside of church and all participate in service or support projects.

Adult Bible Class   Our purpose is to study the Biblical Writings as to their meanings for the times in which they were written, and to understand them through the lives of the Chosen people of God, so that we may learn the essential principles of how human beings should deal with God and with each other.  In so doing, we hope to become better Christians.  Our curriculum is “The Present Word” uniform lesson series.  We donate money to Sunnyside Ministries and other groups, we do church memorials, and we have an annual Christmas dinner at a member’s home.

E. T. Clemmons Class   The Clemmons Class is an adult Sunday School class of males and females of all ages.  Our primary concern is the study of the scripture for the original meaning and how we can apply the scripture to our lives today.  We use, for our study material, “The Present Word.”  This is from beginning to the end a Bible study series.  We sponsor a child in Ecuador, the Samaritan’s Purse shoebox campaign and other concerns during the year.

Morning Star Class     Welcome to Morning Star!  We are a diverse group of adults of all ages in different seasons of life seeking God's revelation of Himself to us through the study of His Word.  We are people who do not have all the answers and want something better for our lives.  We believe the key to this transformation is our Lord Jesus Christ.  We are a Bible based class currently using John MacArthur's "Because the Time is Near" for an in-depth study of the book of Revelation.  You don't need a superior knowledge of the Bible to participate in this class; just the willingness to learn about all the good things God has to offer us and how to give your best back to Him.

Covenant Class   We are a discussion-based class.  We use various study materials, from the Uniform Lesson Materials to videos to book studies, and several members serve as discussion leaders.  We act as grade-parents for a class at Old Town Elementary, providing school supplies, class parties, tutoring, and any needs that might help.  We also collect coins year round for the Samaritan Inn Coin Drive.

Fellowship Class   The Fellowship Class has been a significant part of Clemmons Moravian for many years.  Members of this class have always supported needed projects of CMC.  A significant project of this class was the building and construction of the outdoor pavilion.  Other church and community projects are constantly supported financially and personally as needed. Many members of this class have and are serving on church and Provincial Boards and Committees.  We follow the Uniform Standard Curriculum prepared jointly by the Moravian, Presbyterian and United Church of Christ denominations.  We have five dedicated teachers who share in the teaching of the class and a dedicated class membership that includes up to 40 members who attend regularly.  Class activities and projects are determined on an annual basis.
